[The doors are open to let in some air - yeah, AC isn't done yet - and Tony catches a sound, leaning out the door with a grin. It's always going to be an ego boost to see something like that.]

You've got timekeeping that'll put me to shame.

Not at all, always nice to know people care about this sort of thing and get excited about it. C'mon, I'll show you around.

Of course Aerith was going to come and visit, because Tony had been exceptionally nice to her when they first talked. She decided to bring a little 'housewarming gift', if it could be called that, because technically this wasn't even a house. But that wasn't the point.

She had a vase of flowers in her hand when she strolled into the lab, smiling and gazing around curiously at all of Tony's fancy mechanical toys,

"Well, this is really something!"

Well, well, his stunning tour guide from when he was still location scouting had shown up - it was a damn good day to be Tony Stark as he allowed a little swagger to creep into his walk, coming around to greet her.

"Gotta thank you for the help in picking this place out," he said by way of greeting as he took in the flowers, pausing for a moment before remembering that she was a florist, "are these for me? You shouldn't have, come on in, I'll give you a tour, let you set those down somewhere."

"Of course! I'm always glad to help out," she said with a wide smile, handing the vase off, "Technically they're for your workshop, but we could say they're for you," her tone was obviously teasing. That was her attempt at a joke, work with her here, Tony.

She was already peering around a bit, "I haven't seen anything like this before. Have you been working on it all by yourself?"

"Well aren't you a good samaritan?" Teasing, teasing but he put the vase down somewhere that didn't have schematics or god knows what else lying around on the tables. "They're beautiful, might just take them home with me at the end of the day, remind me that there's a little sunshine out there."

Okay that was such a bad move at flirting but he didn't have much material to work with.

An arm was casually draped around Aerith's shoulders as he began to direct her around, smile on his face. "It's a shame I can't show you my setup back in Malibu although you'll probably end up seeing it in a dream anyway but it's way more impressive than this. But yeah, I tend to work on anything like this alone. Only person who really gets it."

[Ariadne is never one to pass up an opportunity to learn more about anything: Tony had struck her as a fascinating type of person, one worthy of a little bit of attention. That's why she's there, glancing around the workshop curiously. Yeah, she might have just let herself in. Sorry about that, Tony.]

Hello?

[Tony is still Tony and even if he's meant to be showing the workshop off, he's poking around, doing a little wiring on one of the robot arms for Dummy.]

Hey!

[nothing wrong with that. Ariadne joins him, keeping enough distance so as not to crowd, but peers closely in interest.]

So what're you working on right now?

[He moves out of the way a little more to give her a better look at the soldering he's working on.]

I've got a couple of these in my home workshop, help me out when I'm in a jam. This one's Dummy, holds cameras, helps with soldering for the Iron Man suit, used to help tiday the desk. Need to work on my fire extinguisher next.

[He's no expert when it comes to engineering - he might have been, given another lot in life, having wanted nothing more than to follow in his parents' footsteps as a child and work on robots and the like in their labs, but all thought of that had died when they did, leaving him to become a hero, firmly on the other side of things. The suit spiked his interest, reminiscient of a hero suit as it was, but he can't deny that part of him is still interested in these things.

Which is why he's here to check things out. That, and the restlessness he feels, not really having anything to do yet. If nothing else, it should be interesting.

He pokes his head in before entering, looking around, at the set-up itself and for the man who'd built it.]

[There's the unforgiving screech of concrete on metal - sorry, not the best greeting but that's what happens when you've had people in, when you've really evaluated the space you realise what works, what doesn't. But he looks up and waves once the table's in place.]

Hey there.

Hey. [He returns the wave with a flick of his fingers, giving a small smile as he walks further into the workshop.]

It looks like you have a lot going on.

A man has to have something to replace his usual lifestyle when he's stuck in a dreamworld, right?

[Really, this is his life. Or it would be if he didn't have a company to deal with.]

It was well after noontime when a tall, hairy beast of a man lurked around the incomplete workshop. He was dressed inappropriately for the weather in an impressive, thick coat, gently worn top hat and boots. He marched slowly about the premises, long arms folded tightly across a broad chest, a discerning eye and thoughtful grimace cast over the completed merchandise and carpentry. Under the hem of his coat flashed a glimpse of a thick, gruesome police-cudgel - one heavy enough that, when wielded by strong and sure hands, it could effectively smash in a troublemaker's skull ( ... )

Tony wasn't going to forget seeing a face like Javert's any time soon, something that looked like it belonged in the Victorian era, maybe earlier with that ridiculous facial hair and everything else; Jarvis made a quiet comment over the computer, volume turned low as Tony typed away, keeping up to date with a few notes he'd been taking on the place and Tony turned, spinning around in his seat to get a good look as he moved around. He was used to military men thanks to Rhodey and to dealing weapons and he'd had other bodyguards in places with weapons but seeing something like that cudgel was strange ( ... )

"I recall you were the one to put out an informal invitation. Yet you wonder why I am here anyway."

Inspector Javert's cold gray eyes first skimmed over Tony's computer equipment. The murmured voice of Jarvis had caught his ear, though he could not quite make out what it said. After he was sure he got a decent look at the array, he raised his head again to meet Tony full in the face. His arms loosened, and he curtly touches a hand to his hat.

"I have come to introduce myself properly. As Chief Inspector of this city," said Javert. As swiftly as he drew his hand up, it snapped back to its tightly folded, official position. A wedding band glimmered on his fourth finger. Apparently he wasn't joking about having a wife, whatever kind of old bag Tony may imagine her to be. His teeth flashed in a rather unsettling, wry smile. Perhaps his face was naturally unpleasant like that. "Your private shop is in good order. You work quickly."

"I'm not one to judge a book by its cover," he was in fact and that was a blatant lie but he wanted to see if this guy would call him out on it because he'd looked like a good judge of character from the first conversation, "but you don't really look the type to be interested in any of this. What with the dashing muttonchops and your looming Dickensian presence ( ... )
