Candy.

Uchiha Itachi had been walking down the street, exploring a bit more of Somarium since his arrival only days ago. He didn't know the area really yet--he had been preoccupied with... other things.

However, finding a good shop that sold any kind of confection had been high on his list. To say Itachi had a sweet tooth was... a bit of an understatement. In fact, it was kind of a hobby, to find these places and savor everything within. He would travel with Kisame and stop t them from time-to-time to savor all kind of treats.

When he saw Alphonse with the candy, Itachi slowly came to a stop right in front of him on the path. The man was dressed in his blue shinobi uniform with this fishnet V-neck collar and matching navy sandals. His Akatsuki cloak was back at the suite he was living in, and his headband had long since vanished back in his world. However, crimson eyes stared over at Alphonse--or rather, the girl--and directly onto the blur of a bag he managed to capture with steadily failing eyes.

"...Where did you get those?"

Al had been in the middle of savoring a giant, gummy candy when he heard someone approach. He quickly swallowed and looked up at the newcomer, but was lost for words for a moment. This guy, he looked like a boy that Al had met a little while ago. Sasuke... was the name of that boy. Except, this one looked a little older and was dressed differently.

He pointed at the street behind him. "There's a shop down that way. You probably couldn't miss it if you tried; it has quite a colorful sign and stands out."

Itachi gave a nod at the information. Indeed, Itachi was Sasuke's brother... not that they were on speaking terms... unless speaking included Sasuke yelling at Itachi. Not that the older Uchiha expected anything less.

His ruby eyes were lingering on the gummy. He had never seen one before.

"...What kind is that?" He asked, gesturing right to the colorful sweet. Itachi wasn't from a time where...gummies... existed.

Al had never actually seen a gummy candy before now, either. He'd actually pointed at the treat and asked the shopkeeper the very same question.

"It's called a gummy~" he said cheerfully, reaching into his bag for a fresh one: a red one in the shape of a bear. Al held the candy out for the other to see. "Would you like to try one? It has a strange chewy texture." Actually, slimy might've been a better word to describe the sweet, but that doesn't particularly sound like a very positive term to give to a candy.

Itachi looked at the candy for a moment, regarding whether or not it was safe to consume. Deciding the sweet was worth the risk, Itachi nodded once to the girl, before taking the red bear.

He gave it a slight squeeze in between his fingers, before giving it a try.

"...This is good." Chewy was a good word for it. It teased at Itachi's teeth, threatening to not be tamed. But eventually, Itachi won the battle and the sweet tidbit found its way into his stomach.

"Isn't it?" Al was absentmindedly sucking on another gummy at this point. He knew it was a little rude to be eating while still in conversation, but he couldn't help himself. It'd been years since he'd been able to taste anything.

"We don't have anything like this in my world. I'm going to try my best to taste everything here!"

Itachi nodded, his eyes already took down towards the direction in which the sweet shop was at.

"...Did you see if they sold..." There was a bit of a pause. "...Dango?"

"Dango?" Alphonse searches his mind, trying to put a picture to the term, but fails to do so.

"Could you describe what they look like?"

Itachi held up three fingers for the girl.

"...It looks like three round balls on a skewer. They can be multiple colors, or covered in black sesame, or in a sweet mirin sauce..." There were so many kinds that Itachi didn't know how to really describe them.

"Did you see anything that resembled them?"

Alphonse took a moment to replay his time at the sweets store. Round balls on skewers...

Finally, he nodded. "Yes, I think I saw something like that!" He was now regretting his decision not to pick one up.

Itachi nodded. If that was the case, that was what he wanted.

"Thank you." He turned to start heading to the shop, before pausing. He looked back towards Al with red eyes.

"...What's your name?"

"It's Al~ Al Elric." He figured that would be slightly more gender-neutral than 'Alphonse', and he'd still be easy to find should the need ever came up again.

Itachi gave another nod at the name. 'Al', was it? He wondered if it was short for Alexandra, or Alessandra.

He said nothing else--just disappeared down the street.

But, not even ten minutes had gone by when he returned to see Al there. He was holding a mauch larger bag of sweets, and when he paused in front of the newly turned girl, Itachi held out a colorful stick of dango in silence, one in his mouth.

Al was a little surprised to see the stranger walk back only a few minutes later. He happily took the stick in his hands, mumbling a very grateful "Thank you" before turning it over a few times.

Touch was another one of the things he missed about being human, and Al was already poking at the stick and the colorful balls with fascination.

He looked back up finally, giving the stranger a smile. "I'm sorry, I never asked for your name."
