Riku was not the type of person to allow someone crying deal with their tears all on their own.
But he wasn't the sort of person to butt into another's personal life. The dilemmas the teen faced on a day-to-day were exponential compared to someone who would normally deal with something as easy as just walking over to tell someone they were worried for what they were going through. Even though they didn't even know have the time as he walked through the field after a day of training all on his own. Organization in his life was an illusion. Those who had said it was possible to just act as if this was all something normal and go about their daily lives were lying in the keyblade wielder's eyes. He knew that there was something more that he could be doing. He just didn't exactly know what

The problem with escaping the manor for air and to be with the moon, meant that she was susceptible to anyone finding her. She knew she could prevent that, with her abilities she could go anywhere she wished except the moon in this place. Nothing could hurt as much as what just happened with her daughter. No monster attack, no insult, nothing could compare to the pain her heart felt. She could be rend limb from limb and it wouldn't compare to the knife in her heart. Wicked Lady wanted to see her suffer, she had succeeded.
When she heard Riku she closed her eyes, and tried to compose herself. She shouldn't have done this in retrospect. A shuddering breath enters her aching lungs and she lifts her head.
"R-Riku," her smile is weak, a sad fake to her real one.
He didn't realize that his daughter had arrived, nor did he realize that she was 'evil' in a sense. Though he knew how that could be when it came down to everything as he looked on at his friend. He never really did like seeing anyone in this state, that much was true. Riku didn't know whether to scoot forward. To hug her. Or just kneel there and continue that way as he just moved a little closer to the woman.
"I know fake smiles." He was an expert at them. Even though lately it'd been very difficult to do so. "What's wrong?"
She couldn't let herself smile anymore. At his comment it fell and she looked away, taking deep breaths. So much was wrong. She was living with a young man who would become her husband, but they couldn't do anything because he was from the past and she was from the future. In her actual timeline, when she awoke from this dream, everyone she loved and cared for would be dead once again, awaiting for the end of the battle so she could revive them and the planet. Her daughter, her beautiful, bright, intelligent, and amazing daughter was under the control of a serial killer and felt alone and abandoned by her own family.
So much was wrong, and it was hers to bear and bear alone.
"Someone I love very much... my daughter..." she closed her eyes and bowed her head... "My daughter is in a place I cannot reach her." Because even if she satisfied her daughters desire by dying, it was not her death that awakened Small Lady from the spell. Pluto's death was what caused that.
Riku didn't have a need to ask her to smile. He would much rather her be honest with herself about how she was feeling. Tears and a smile never really did go together. Except when he noticed the look on his mother's face when he and Sora came back home. He didn't really know what was more uplifting -- knowing that she was there waiting for him. Or that she missed him that much. It wasn't anything to say about the fact that she hadn't known what he had been doing for the past year it seemed.
He paused for a brief moment as he watched her, frowning a little as he does. "A friend...I know. Told me that no matter where a person is, your heart can always reach them." He didn't know if it had to deal with this situation but he felt as though it would make her feel just a little better. "No one is unreachable, Serenity. Everyone's heart is connected and since she's your daughter, I'm sure it's the same for you both even more." Optimism. It...felt good to acknowledge for the most part.
"She is from the past, the place she is in... how she is... I am not the one able to change her, to return her. That must come with the sacrifice of another. We are not even supposed to meet as I am and she is." Perhaps because it would have just been too cruel for her and her heart.
