Who: Ivan & somarium!
Where: Espoir
Style: I'll gladly follow you!
Status: Open as can be, bb.

If one were to walk through the center plaza of Espoir early in the morning, they might just stumble upon a rather curious sight. No -- curious wasn't the word for it -- unsettling was more apt in describing the situation.

( Hope was on his way home when he comes across the sight in the middle of the plaza. He rushes over without much of a second thought, really hoping that it wasn't as bad as it looked. Once close enough, he can see how bad it is but at least the young man wasn't, well... it really wasn't something he wanted to think about not when he could be focusing on actually helping.

Moving onto his knees, he lifts a hand and holds it out toward the other person, a soft white-blue light appearing as he concentrates on his magic in order to try and hopefully heal up some of the worst wounds visible. There's just silence on his part until a brief moment passes and he glances over and frown a little. )

He-hey, can you hear me?

[As Ivan regains consciousness, the first thing he is aware of is the presence of another beside him. His body's initial reaction is to run -- but as he struggles to open his eyes, much less move his entire body, he's quick to realise that the person next to him isn't Jake Martinez. In fact, the boy didn't look to be anyone he knew.

He attempts to prop himself up on his elbows slowly, remembering that the boy had spoken to him. Not wanting to be rude, he moves to a sitting position, shocked at the relative lack of pain compared to what he should certainly be feeling at the moment.

That, combined with the boy's presence -- not to mention the lack of Jake's presence -- was enough to confuse Ivan completely, and left him extremely on guard.]

Yes, I... how did you do that? Are you a NEXT too? [He pauses.] Either way, it's not safe here. You should escape while you can.

( Hope is glad to see when the young man opens his eyes, and slowly begins to move. He shifts on his knees, making sure the other had enough room to sit up as he continues to keep his hand out for the time being and

NEXT? ( He sounds and looks visibly confused by the term, blinking once before shaking his head. ) It's magic.

( His smile is a little strained as he says this, finally letting his hand drop as he gives a curious look at the comment concerning their safety. ) Oh, um, no we're safe here. I know this might sound weird, but you're not home anymore.

[Testing out his mobility, Ivan is quick to discover that his injuries -- which could easily have been classified as life-threatening before -- while aching, are nowhere near as severe as they should have been. When he hears the word 'magic', he looks at the boy briefly before looking at his arms, which looked to be nearly entirely healed. A look of astonishment crosses his face before he turns back to the boy.]

That must be a really nice power to have. [Much better than his own. Shapeshifting wasn't all that useful in saving people, as evidenced in his utter failure in infiltrating Jake Martinez's lair.] Ah, thanks for helping me.

[At the mention of not being in Sternbild, however, he freezes.]

This isn't Sternbild? How is that possible? I was just there a minute ago.

[It was just one thing after another for Kotetsu. First, he went to bed after a long night of being a big damn hero. He might've drank a bit before he finally retired for the night, but that's typical. Of course, when he woke up here, wherever "here" was, he instantly thought "lucid alcoholic nightmare." But that wouldn't make any sense. It felt far too real. That, and the body lying across the way looked far too real, too.

His Instinct tells him to run forward, it also tells him to worry and not gamble here. Dream, vision, nightmare, concussion, whatever... he wasn't about to risk it, just incase.]

Origami?! [It also tells him to yell. Perhaps her should yell louder?

When he makes it to the boy, he instantly kneels next to him and starts fretting.]

H-hey, Origami. Just stay with me, okay? [He pauses to just watch the kid breath.] That's right... deep breaths.

[That's said more so in reassurance for himself. He questions how to handle this situation. Should he take off his vest and his hat and cushion his head with them? At ( ... )

[For someone that came from over ten months in the future -- in terms of Ivan's current time-line, of course -- such wounds certainly would look a bit familiar, having come from his (failed) infiltration of Jake Martinez's hideout.

When he hears the first shout, Ivan stirs the slightest bit, consciousness slowly returning to him. When he feels the man's presence next to him -- hears his voice with much more clarity -- he begins to relax his throbbing muscles. He knows that voice. He trusts that voice. The realisation that he wasn't dead like he had expected to turn out after his encounter with Jake is enough to make him release a shuddering, relief filled sigh ( ... )

[You better believe that there's concern evident in his eyes. All you young heroes are going to give this old man a heart attack one day, what with how much he worries and cares.

When the boy attempts to sit up, Kotetsu places a hand behind his head and his arm around his torso to help. He gently angles the other so he can at least lean against him.]

Careful, careful. [He shakes his head with an annoyed grumble under his breath.] Don't worry about that right now.

[Since there are more important things to worry about. Like the state of the other hero, which was finally starting to make sense in a strange, improbable sort of way. What was Origami talking about? That happened quite a while ago. At least, it did for him.]

Huh? You didn't fail anything, and the city's just fine...

[Well, it should be anyway. Way to place a doubt or two in his head. But when he notices those tears, he pauses and reaches up to brush a few away with his thumb. That's how he'd handle it with his daughter, so that's how he's going to handle it with ( ... )

[That moment might come sooner rather than later, with the way things had been going lately.

When the older Hero moves to support his weight, Ivan all but sags against him, the impact of his injuries finally sinking in as the pain comes back in full force. Taking a moment to adjust his position as best he could, he avoids eye contact with the man as he speaks.]

How is that possible? Surely once I was discovered and... [He stops there, not exactly wanting to say 'nearly beaten half to death by Jake Martinez.' He supposed that it might've been possible for the other Heroes to stop Jake after he was defeated, since they were better suited to defend the city anyhow. Even so... a doubt lingers in his mind. He knows that Tiger wouldn't lie about something so vital, but he has to double check to be certain.] This means that you stopped Jake then?

[When Kotetsu reaches out to brush away his tears and offers him a grin, he's not sure if he should feel embarrassed that he had broken down in front of his fellow Hero or relieved that he was ( ... )

[Just kinda looming over him. Mozart jerks behind as Ivan wakes up. It's his first confrontation with near-death. It was a bit frightening but also somewhat alluring. He can't really bring himself to say or do anything besides watch.]

[Wow, creeper. Opening his eyes groggily, Ivan turns his head to the side, allowing a blurry view of the man standing over him. His knee-jerk reaction is to to defend himself as best he can, not realising that this definitely wasn't Jake Martinez looming over him. Groping blindly for a shuriken resting in the folds of his bodysuit (though seemingly out of nowhere), he launches not one, not two, but three shuriken at the man in quick succession.

His aim's probably not too great at the moment, considering his injuries, but... watch out for those flying projectiles, Clonezart!]

[If he had a long, pointy object to stab the other man with, -- say, an epee -- he would. But he doesn't so luckily the best he can do is dodge the small attacks. Try that again and he will kick out all the air Ivan has left in those lungs.]

You idiot! Are you trying to kill me!?

[Sorry Clonezart, it's nothing personal... really! Being beaten half to death by a psycho before waking up in a strange place with someone hovering over you tends to lead to such a reaction. When Ivan hears the man's voice and strains -- really looks at him -- he realises his mistake and begins to apologize profusely, despite the current situation.

Ahh! I'm sorry! I thought you were... someone else... [It's a lame excuse, but it's the truth. As he speaks, Ivan takes in his surroundings, pushing himself up on his elbows for support. This definitely wasn't Jake Martinez' hideout. So the next question is --] Where am I?
