Not even Leo could even consider protesting against bringing Elliot to where Vanessa was. No matter how much he disliked her, she was Elliot's sister and she had been so worried that she acted completely unlike herself. She definitely had to know that Elliot was back.

What Leo didn't like was the fact that she would see the state Elliot was in, and that was bound to be unpleasant. He wasn't entirely sure how, yet, but he knew it would be.

He did, however, try not to think about it too much because what was important now was that Elliot would live, Leo would still get to see him, and whatever happened from here... It just had to be dealt with as it came around, right? Although that was easier to think than truly believe...

Although it was easier not to think too much about anything when he was caught up in making sure not to stumble over anything and drop Elliot, or just drop Elliot. Because Elliot was pretty heavy, really, and Leo still felt exhausted from all kinds of things, but, well... people did say that when needed, the body could do amazing things.

When they reached the camp, Leo couldn't quite believe he had actually managed to carry Elliot on his back all the way.

In every way, Elliot did not like the idea of having to be carried. Of course, he didn't really have a choice in the matter. Being slung over Leo's back wasn't exactly comfortable, especially when he was aching so much, but they were doing what they had to do. Shortly after he'd been lifted, he finally couldn't keep himself awake anymore, and he lost consciousness.

As much as Noel wanted to help with carrying Elliot to their campsite, she knew that wasn't the best idea. Someone had to lead, and furthermore, that girl from before was right... There were still monsters lurking about, so they had to keep on guard. Noel was the only one among the three of them that was capable of efficient battle, so she needed to have her hands free. Guns out, she escorted them to their destination, thankfully without incident.

"We're here," she points out the obvious as they approached the tent that was going to be their temporary home for a while. The guns in her hands dissolved into golden particles of light. They were safe, for now.

Truth be told, Noel was a bit worried about how Vanessa would react, but... It was important for her to know that her brother had returned. She reached out and pulled the flap of fabric that served as a door aside, holding it to allow Leo to enter with Elliot in tow, ready to follow as soon as they were in.

"Go inside and set him down."

Vanessa has been scarce since the incident with Leo, nursing her wounded pride and mourning the loss of her brother all at the same time. She's barely moved from her makeshift bed, despite the warm temperature and the lack of food and water in her stomach. Dehydration is becoming more of a threat, but...she can't bring herself to care. Not now.

Go inside and set him down.

She glances back at the sound of Noel's voice, rubbing at her eyes to focus them on just who is entering. She sees that servant first, and it makes her blood pressure rise into dangerous levels. Immediately she sits up, ignoring the lightheaded feeling that accompanies it and prepares to scream. But then she notices who he's carrying, and her expression turns weak, nervous and allover shocked.

"Elliot...?" she whispers as she rises to her feet and stumbles towards the three of them.

"Elliot?! Is he...? Elliot..."

Leo doesn't give Noel any words for a reply; he's so spent that he doesn't trust himself to talk so unless he absolutely has to, he won't. He just nods as he steps into the tent, eyes firmly on the ground.

He doesn't really want to face Vanessa, because afterwards like this, when he's not quite as shocked from waking up to Elliot dead, he's honestly a little frightened of her. And he has no intention to say anything at all to her either, but when she asks...

Well, he figures he might as well.

"He's alive," he practically croaks out, but leaves the rest of the explanation to Noel as he moves to lay Elliot down.

Noel leaves Leo to take care of Elliot, and turns her attention towards Vanessa. At least she didn't fly into a violent rage this time. Right... They should explain things. Everyone here needed a little bit of reassurance, with everything that had happened.

"All his major injuries have been healed," she adds, not sure how else to explain things. "He's going to live, but he needs plenty of rest and care."

She follows him, kneeling down alongside Elliot as he's laid down, barely even glancing up to acknowledge Noel as she speaks. She wouldn't at all, if her words hadn't made her feel so much better. He's going to live...he's going to live!

"How...how did this happen?"

This is something that only Leo can explain, because it's something that happened in their world after all. But... that's not something he wants to do. If he can just not talk anymore now...

He's done talking.

So he'll... wait and see what Noel comes with while he slumps as much as he can without anything to lean on, next to Elliot.

Thank god. This was going way better than Noel thought it would. She follows, choosing to sit next to Vanessa. Even if this was going better than expected, Noel still had to be cautious and made sure there were no rash actions.

"He was healed by magic from a passerby," she explained with a weary smile. She had to get that person's name soon. Noel felt indebted to her. "Elliot... will be fine."

Well, not entirely. They had to take care of him and make sure he recovered smoothly, but... For now, they didn't have to face the burden of losing him.

So magic like this...it really did exist in this world. Miracles like this only ever occurred in those books that Elliot enjoyed reading when they were younger; the ones that she'd listen to him read aloud and act out with his tiny paper sword in the parlor with her brothers. It isn't supposed to be something that happens like this.

But she can't bring herself to care too much about the impossibility of it. After all, she herself had been killed and brought here after by the same type of impossible magic. Her hand briefly ghosts over her neck as she watches Leo slump down next to her brother, but then she also drops down to her knees on his other side and reaches up to grab his hand gently, as though she's afraid of rousing him at first. When he doesn't wake up, though, she leans over and presses her forehead against his knuckles, fingers still laced loosely around his.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Oh, so that's what Vanessa asked about.

At her action, Leo turns his head away, finding looking at it very difficult. Because this... this is what he robbed Elliot off, after all. This family closeness. And even if he at least had Vanessa pretty much until the very end...

That's how it is.

He had nothing, personally, against just having one of those blood siblings around, but that wasn't at all what mattered. After all, what matters most is Elliot.
