Canon Update
There are two ways a person can canon update their character:
Obviously, this is the Holding Period route. Once you submit in the holding form, one of the mods will comment to just acknowledge that we know the character is now on hold. From that point, unless otherwise specified, your character will "drop" from the game. You will not be able to make any posts or threads with the said character. It will be exactly as if they had disappeared from the world completely.
Pretty simple right? So what exactly do you have to fill out?
Canon Update form:
[Player name]
[Personal Journal]
[Character name]
[Character Journal]
[Canon point that you are updating to]
[Background]
All we need is the new information, so consider this as if you are adding on to the original application. Include everything that happens in the canon that the character will have experienced before returning back to Somarium.
[Personality]
If there are any personality development/changes, please make a note of them here.
[Abilities]
If there are any ability development/changes, please make a note of them here.
[Other important stuff]
Anything else that is noteworthy.
[Any questions?]
When your character "returns", they will still have full recollection of their time in Somarium, plus the new memories they will have acquired due to the canon update.
Remember, this is working almost exactly as if you had dropped the character from the game and had re-applied. The character will not be removed from the game.
- Dream Update: Basically the character has a dream of everything that happens up until the point you want to update them to. However, they still will not have experienced the actual events and it will be more like an amnesiac watch a film of their life, or someone telling them what had happened. It will feel a little familiar, and they will believe the events, but it's still not concrete.
- Holding Period: It's just like re-applying, only without having to go through the actual process. This can also be done at any point in time during the month, so you do not have to wait for an application cycle. The character will disappear from Somarium as if they had been dropped and left completely for one week.
