Premonitions, deja vu, whatever it is, I hate it! I hate it so much!

I just got done reading (devouring) Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass. It's a nice book, but gets kind of bleh at the end. I suppose If I wanted to be hip and all I would call it steampunk, but you can't really nail a time period down on it. It's more of an alterate universe. ( spoilers! )
