Well, I think you deserve an update.
I've been working in London for the past week. For those who know, they know how bloody hard I've worked, for those who don't know what I was doing, I'll explain.
There's a company called 'The Mill' which is a post production / production company in London. It's an amazing building, with 300 people inside, working on a variety of work that you would all recognize.
For most of you, the most recognizable stuff would be the SFX and Monsters of Doctor Who and Merlin. There also currently doing the new Narnia film, and a variety of famous adverts including: The Barclaycard Roller-coaster Advert, The Honda Advert with the different vehicles, the Paint ball adverts that go down the hill, the one with the chair in space, The most recent dairy milk advert. You name it, and they've probably made it.
Anyway, I was working with them for a week as a runner. Serving tea and coffee and all that jazz. I had to run through London, getting orders in different streets and that sort of thing. For the most part it was really tiring, I travelled 1 ½ hours to the Mill and back every day, and paid about 100 pounds of so in travel for 5 days.
I got to be a total fan girl about the whole being on the Doctor Who animation floor thing, that was a double added bonus. Ooh, and they start filming Merlin mega soon, a client confirmed it on the phone in the Doctor Who final edit room whilst HOLDING THE RUSHES FOR THE NEW DW SERIES.
Excitable about this news much? Me? I CRIED when I told my parents. XD
Overall? It was the most rewarding experience I've ever done. I know what the world is like inside now, I know what the world will be like when I leave Uni. I have no perceptions of walking into the industry. I know I'll walk and then climb hard, and then higher still until I get what I want.
I'm going to get into that industry, maybe not at the Mill, but I will. I want to be person who can animate and create something, that people will remember. I want that more than anything.
Is that too much to ask for?
