Been back from Japan for ten days, not that anybody would have noticed with the way I never say anything any more.
I think I got over the jet lag, though weirdly, I still want to eat at bizarre times of the day or night. I have also been consuming great quantities of cheese - must have missed it more than I realized.
Japan was great and awesome and wonderful, Kame was amazing, Dream Boys was an experience (as was narrowly deciding not to spend £350 on going to see the show for a third time), and I loved meeting so many people:
misao_duo,
ina,
pithetaphish,
becroberts,
karu_chan,
vc_mel,
samenashi,
soundczech, and
rindiggfelt, as well as some people who aren't even on LJ. Particular thanks to those of you who came out specially to weird places or at inconvenient times of the day to meet us! ♥
ETA: I have been instructed to add the following: I had a delightful travel companion who only stormed off in a huff when I really deserved it and rescued me from an earthquake.
(Far be it from me to mention that I thought the earthquake was said delightful companion KICKING MY BED, since I was already used to getting HIT BY HER PIG!)
I have too many photos to put any up at this point, I have a Kame poster and a Jin poster still rolled up in the guest room looking for frames, I have six Akame doujinshi to scan (how did that happen? I wasn't going to buy any!), and the day I got back from Japan was the day all my classes started again so I'm overwhelmed with work. The start of the academic year is always the worst.
Also on my horizon again now: the JLPT. Why was I stupid enough to sign up for it? I knew I'd be away in September and worked off my feet in October and November. ;_; Anyway, kanji, here I come. I wonder if I should study some grammar, too, but somehow I have a vague sense that I probably know enough there (utterly unfounded on any evidence, just... idk.) whereas with kanji I know I suck.
In amongst all this
jo_lasalle and I finally wrote a story we'd been planning to write since the start of 2009, and posted it late last night when neither of us were particularly conscious:
The two three of us were always one: five six several times Pi forgot the words and that one time with beer! Jin lost at wrestling (HA HA NO) he had help.A companion piece to
Amigo. Teen-rated, 9,800 words.
Summary: It was always Pi and Jin, unless it was Jin and Kame, when it wasn't Kame and Pi. Things go around.
I still have doujinshi translations I want to do. In fact, I have one almost finished from before I left, but there's a handwritten short story at the end of it which looks like hard work... might just leave that out? But I'd feel bad about that. My life, so hard.
Cheerful things in bullet points:
- I CANNOT WAIT for Youkai Ningen Bemu to start. Srsly.
- I am SO HAPPY at how much better Test Drive sounds now that Jin's singing it. Okay, so it's still a pretty standard hip-hop dance song but it's just... idk, it seemed totally transformed. (The cover still sucks. OMG who thought that up?)
- PAPARATS! On CD! Studio version! FINALLY!
- I have been digging into Jo's and my ICQ logs to find what I said about Dream Boys when I first watched (two parts of) the 2006 version, and I have been laughing my ass off.
