The sky was red, the plants were red, the girl's body was red. She was perfectly still, laying in a pool of blood. A few animals had passed by her already, deciding that this meal was one that wouldn't be worth it. After a few hours, the girl's body finally began to rise and fall gently, the first signs of any life. After a few more hours, her mind returned to her, and Archturous opened her milky white eyes, greeted by a returned gaze of crimson orbs. She took a few deep breaths, wondering what in the blazes was going on.

The crimson eyes stared at her, unblinking and hard. Then the head that contained them moved back, allowing her to see the world in front of her. It appeared that the eyes belonged to a giant... owl? Archturous wasn't really sure, because she could honestly say that she had never seen an owl that BIG before, or one that had a skull on the outside before. It towered over its brothers at a height of 5’ and a wingspan of 12’. The gimawl stared at her for another moment moment before cocking its head to one side slightly. Talons dug into her chest, drawing blood. It regarded her with distaste, hopped off of her, and then it turned its head around and refused to look upon her.

Archturous gave herself a quick once over, nothing broken or bruised. However, she was bathed in blood and her eyes were raw from tears. She tentatively raised a hand to one of her eyes. Why had she been crying, and whose blood was she covered in, if it wasn't her own? She tried to remember, but while her life replayed, it seemed her last year or so was fractured and broken. She had no idea why, but she felt that why she was covered in blood was in those last few days were terribly important. Nothing I can do about it right now...

She slowly got to her feet, wobbling for a moment as her blood rushed away from her head. Darn Anemia... happens every time. Looking around her, her weak eyes made out dim details of the world around her, broken kiosks, rampant vines, and a perpetual red haze. She was glad that she was inside, the direct light of the sun would have scorched her poor Albino skin that lacked the melanin to protect itself. She took another moment soaking in the sights, and she decided that she must be inside an... airport? At least, the decrepit signs and rows of chair-benches seemed to suggest that.

A noise from behind her captured her attention and she turned around, neither scared nor worried. It was the gimawl. He had shifted slightly, and he was staring directly at her. After a moment, silent wings stroke powerfully, and he soars up onto her shoulder. Gazing straight into her face, making her go cross eyed while trying to look at him; he screeches possessively, almost daring her to tell him to get off.

"Ok, ok... no need to get snippy." Archturous holds up her hands lightly. Normal people might have gotten scared by a giant owl landing on them, one less than a foot shorter than herself, but Archturous is far from normal. After a moment, the gimawl still hasn't flown away, but instead settled down contentedly. "Well... guess you're gonna stay, eh?" Just then a small beep pierces through the relative silence of the abandoned airport. Her gaze follows the noise down to her pants, and she notices a strange device tangled in the laces and windings of her pants. Carefully she untangles it, though what IT is, she isn't sure. Oh well, I'll figure it out later.
