Niji settled back near the fire, her sewing in hand. Phantasy was a hard working indeed, much to Niji's obvious delight. They had quickly cleaned and organized the common area outside. Then Phantasy had noticed Niji's energy flagging and insisted that she rest. That suited Niji fine; she had other tasks that needed doing. There were still no new responses from Toyota or Dr. Crane to her message. A renewed effort to ensure their cooperation was in order.

Niji sent Phantasy to gather the bedding from the various homes. Ghost's foray yesterday had brought back some more soap, including something for clothes in a bottle. It would be good to sleep under clean blankets again. This way the new bedding that Ares had collected could also be cleaned.

She looked down at Captain Duncan's fine jacket. It would do well to clean the blood from that as well, but with any luck, Kororen would be back soon to repair the slashes seamlessly. She was expecting him back any time, but it seemed that the diplomacy had taken longer than either of them expected. Still, there was nothing to worry about for his safety.

The peaceful act of sewing seams schooled her thoughts as she planned her next steps. Get a report from Kororen first. Then she would have something new to put in her messages to the others, making it seem less like nagging. Then she really did need to deal with Mara.

She sighed and placed some more wood on the fire. After lunch would be soon enough for the demon. Just getting to that penthouse of hers would be challenge enough.
