Nei'ess was tired of all this running around and madness. He was covered in bruises from the uncomfortable ride and from falling, starving again, exhausted, and worried sick about Ana. As he dropped off of Hex's back, his knees buckled under him and he just kept going. He caught himself as best he could on a nearby half-ruined building and tried pretending that he was perfectly fine. If he judged it right, he probably could make it back to the library before needing to sleep at least, so long as he didn't push himself too badly

In some strange kind of lucidity that only came with such an altered, self-induced mental state, Ana some how knew that her brother was there, so close but still out of reach. Like she could see him, on the edges of her distant vision, a smudge on blurry, out of focus surroundings. Maybe it wasn't real, maybe it was just the remainder of her connection with him amplified by whatever hold Ares had over her, or maybe she really had lost her goddamn mind finally, but she just knew.

To that feeling, she stirred in the woman's arms, sitting up to peer over her shoulder, though in the final stages of her break down it was almost like going blind, and everything was nothing more than shapes highlighted in red.

And for the first time since Mara had taken her, she spoke.

"...Hex."

Niji had cleaned the extra mugs and herself in the fountain and gone to tend her tea when Ghost asked his questions about the living arrangements. She was considering how to answer in front of the guests when the sound of a new voice and a flicker of color caught her attention. She rose and presented herself as non-threatening.

Facing where the color was, she called out, "Welcome, if you are the escort from the library for Ana-san. She is asking for her brother, Hex-san. Please come join us for some food and tea while you assess her condition. We have all been very concerned about her."

Shhhhh,' Ares soothed, petting Ana's hair. 'That's right, darling. He'll be here soon... There's a good girl...'

She ignored Niji's actions until the small woman spoke up across the courtyard, and Ares followed her gaze to a shadowed space between two crumbling buildings. 'There you go, darling,' she murmured to Ana, kissing her forehead. 'Your brother is here now. Everything's all right.'

When Ghost didn't receive an immediate answer, he shrugged and leaned back on his elbows. He felt..Drained. His first day had been very busy. Very..hectic.

But it had been oddly fulfilling. He'd proven at least somewhat useful, and if he was stuck there, he'd make the best of it.

"......Anyway.....Guess we're a family now, of sorts. Ain't it a bitch."
