Strike #9

Sep 27, 2010 22:00

[Maia's spent the past week or so holed up in her room, only bothering to venture out when she needed food or drink. She had been feeling...tense.

Those words she had heard on the top deck in the previous week were still quite fresh in her mind--You were supposed to help Gol. You were supposed to take care of him, Maia--and since then, Maia has ( Read more... )

[Phoenix's mood, on the other hand, has been lightened incredibly. That happens when friends who you thought were lost have been returned to you. Maybe they didn't remember him, but the fact that they were back was all that really mattered.

He's off to the library right now, though he hasn't yet reached the place. There's a spring in his step that tells all about his mood. He hasn't yet noticed Maia.]

[Oh, but Maia's noticed him. Antagonizing Phoenix is as good a pastime as any other, really.]

Awfully cheerful, aren't you?

[Phoenix stiffens at the voice, his mood dampened in an instant. Turning his head, he glares at Maia.]

I assure you, it had nothing to do with you.

I'm sure it didn't. [She casts him a bitter smirk.] What happened? Reunited with someone you missed? [A lucky guess, on Maia's part. But considering all the passengers that come and go, it's also an easy one.]

[Jak meanwhile, is brooding about Torn and Ashelin being back.

They're his friends, they're good people. But as far as they're concerned, he's still a traitor, a liability, and an emotionally unstable Eco Freak.

Okay so maybe they're not totally wrong on that last one.

But it's frustrating to keep doing this again and again, watching friends leave and having them come back without a hint of their old memories. He didn't even understand how this worked, but it pissed him off anyway.

Despite his promises to Daxter, he sneaked out when the ottsel was asleep. A towel slung around his neck, dressed in loose pants and a grey sleeveless shirt, he'd spent some time beating up equipment in the gym. Now, damp with sweat, out of breath and fully into the workout routine he'd devised, he takes out his anger and frustration on a punching bag, completely oblivious to anything else around him.]

[It isn't long before Maia decides to make her way to the gym - it might not be as good as beating the living daylights out of a living, breathing creature, but it still serves as a good distraction. Violence is violence, after all.

She freezes shortly after entering, though...there's someone else in here, and there's something very familiar about him. First is the hair and the relatively short stature...she smirks to herself. Good things really do come to those who wait.

However, the second familiarity is what intrigues Maia the most. Dark Eco - the boy is brimming with it.]

Hm. Your hair is shorter than it was when we last met.

[The voice makes him jump, and Jak whirls around. His eyes widen as he sees who it is, and the punching bag bumps into his back, almost knocking him forward a step.

His eyes narrow, and he glares at Maia.]

What do you want.

[She laughs.] So the hero can talk, after all! And here I was, thinking that your pet was the one who spoke for both of you.

However, it's interesting that Samos would want someone like me to be our world's savior. [That's right, Jak. She knows exactly what's flowing through those veins of yours.]

You weren't like this before. Tell me - what happened? I'm very curious.

[Jinx is actually off to the bar, like that should be a surprise. Though today, he actually decided to take a little detour, squeeze in a bit of exercise perhaps.

He's actually completely healed, safe for a nice chunk torn out of his ear.

Jinx really wasn't expecting to happen upon Maia on his little field trip, and he really wasn't expecting her to look so fumed. He picks up his pace and walks at a nice safe distance from her side. Not that he's actually scared or anything, but his eyes do show that he's holding back just a bit.]

[Jinx is really quite lucky that he decided to give Maia all that information on Jak and Daxter's whereabouts way back when - it was a good reason for her to take him off her hit-list. For the time being, anyway.

He still reeks, just not of alcohol, this time. Of course, Maia's fairly sure that this won't last.

...nn. She doesn't normally like to drink, but when one has a hangover, it's a lot easier to focus on that instead of bad memories.]

If you're going to a bar, then I'm going with you. I could use a drinking partner, anyway.

[Mia never came off as the type to drink in Jinx's eyes.

But a drinking buddy's a drinking buddy--Maia will have to do for now. Jinx doesn't even mind her two toned face, creepy helmet, and just generally pissed off look.]

Just where I was headin'.

[He makes his way to the elevator, then hits a button.]

What's eatin' you?

[Maia just follows Jinx to the elevator, although she fixes him with another glare shortly after he asks that question.]

It is a personal matter. [And that's all you'll be getting out of her in that regard, Jinx.]
