I miss mine, lol. Before I had my youngest I had a permanent altar set up in our bedroom. It was an old herb table that my husband's grandmother used in her potting shed, and that my husband cleaned and refinished for me. It's about 36" long and 18" wide, so plenty of room for a nice altar. I have several colors of altar cloths
found here, and I would dress up the altar every month... for the Sabbat of that month if it had one, or just all-purpose.
However, the spot where I had the altar is the only place in our bedroom large enough for the crib, so the baby has occupied that spot for the last year or so. My altar is tucked away in the shed and my ritual tools, etc. are in the cabinet where I keep all of my supplies. My son isn't ready to move to another room yet, as he'd have to share with an older brother, and that's fine with me, but I do miss having an altar already set up and ready to go.
I'm thinking about putting together a portable altar to keep in a tote bag, where I can grab it and take it outside, etc. or to any room in the house and have most everything I need for ritual (spell items, etc. would have to be added as I go, but the basics would be in the tote.)
So do you have permanant altars? If not, how do you manage putting one together for ritual? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas.
