thoughts on my classes.

I'm currently taking an Ethics course, and a Sociology course that focuses on the third world.

it's a strange combination when, one class talks about the responsibilty that the educated hold to the rest of the world (professionals as leaders), while the other class questions if what we determine as "right" for the rest of the world is in fact right.

I strongly believe that as someone who has in many ways lead a privaliged life (i grew up in the United States... that alone gives me far more privalige then most will ever have) I therefore hold the responsibilty to do something with that, and somehow make the world a better place... and yet - how do i do that if i'm never actually a part of the "other world"? how do i determine what is right and wrong? do i have the right to do something like that? do i have the right to -not- do something?

so far the best examples of outside help has been where the organizations ask what is needed most by those in the communities. and yet, in the ego of being human, we always seem to assume that what we know to be true is truth in it's purest form... and therefore our judgement is somehow better then another person's.

Chris and I talked a long time. I feel like I'll post that sometime...
