Comic Con 2010

A bit late, and contains no pictures, but it's a Comic Con update!

Con was as crazy as I remember it. Have to say, the new preview night thing worked well. It was a bit weird picking up badges at the hotel next door instead of down town at the convention center, but the line moved fast and it was super convenient. The exhibition floor did feel rather empty (I could actually walk fast than a shuffle!) and meant that we were able to cover pretty much the whole thing Wednesday evening. The downside to being able to walk at a more normal pace is that you don't spend as much time looking at the tables and goods (this was ok, I had no money to spend on them anyway).

Thursday was a pretty light day and Kathryn, Feffi and I hit up our normal margarita digs. We might have figured out the right amount to drink this time around. Made it back in time to line up for Penn and Teller.

Friday was costume day (still Agatha, didn't have time to finish up the other steamy one). Kathryn's bustle dress is fabo and we got stopped for lots of pictures. I wanted to see the "Big Bang Theory" panel, but they scheduled the "True Blood" panel for the evening and people camped the room the whole damn day. Normally if you get in line an hour or two before the thing moves pretty quickly and you can get in as people leave. No one left. I am bitter. I know plenty of the people camping the room had no interest in the BBT panel. They need to figure out a better way to do the scheduling so that this doesn't happen in the future. You would link that they would have learned after the whole Twilight fiasco.

Saturday we went to Quick Draw and Cartoon Voices, both of which had us in tears. I will never be able to watch the Scrubbing Bubbles commercial the same way. We also stayed for Nikita (they showed the whole primer episode), which was better than I expected and OMG they cast an actual Asian as a main character! Last was the Mythbuster's panel. The whole crew was there and it was fun, but I think I won't shoot for that one again next year.

Sunday was pretty chill. Got there early to go to the Castle panel which was a whole lot of fun and we got pretty swanky water bottles. Also, Nathan Fillion is hilarious (a fact we all knew already, but damn). Every time someone asked a question he gave them something out of his back pack that he signed. So, things like a package of oreos and party wrist bands. Silly man.

It was a fun week, but exhausting as these things usually are. It took me several days to convince my brain that it was "not thesis" time and boy was the break nice. I'm now in Colorado handing out with the parentals. More later.
