Before I zip to the grocery store...

Things my weekend was filled with, a picture guide:

I wanted to watch this:

But the video store had been pretty picked over for Halloween, so kate_andy and scruffyrebel and I ended up watching these:

Notable things: Christopher Walken with unflattering black hair. Eric Stoltz with flowing red locks. The most inappropriately dressed teacher in the world. The small, poor K-12 school with 20 students but a fabulous Latin choir. Imperturbable Native Americans. Viggo Mortenson as the devil. Angels licking each other.

Notable things: Michael Keaton making hilarious faces of befuddlement and/or horror, while missing all the important paranormal activity by, quite literally, looking the other direction as it happens, and ignoring the things he does see. Quite pointless sidekicks. Rushed and unexplained ending.

Notable things: ALIENS. PREDATORS. PREDALIEN. I like creature movies. Aliens and Predalien fighting Predator. Coming up with nicknames for the generic cast of characters, such as "Ethnically Ambiguous Cop" and "Disappointingly Unattractive". Or "Sam". But that's just because that guy plays Sam on True Blood. A similar naming convention was used for "Chick from 24". The blond love interest chick got the funniest death ever.

I am left with an urge to watch Alien or Aliens, which saddens me as I own neither.

And then, just for good measure, we threw in this:

Notable things: "I am trying to have a moment here and you are ruining it."

And then we decided we needed some of this:

♥ I want one of these, guys. He can hang out with my Predalien.

We ate lots of this:

(Look at the flavor!)

November is National Novel Writing Month. I'm not doing NaNo; I never do, because I feel like, for me at least, it promotes the idea of quantity over quality and I'd rather do it the other way around, even if it means I write fewer words. But, in the spirit of NaNo, I'm going to crack down and work on my current novel more. I have it ~90% outlined, and most of the remaining 10% is figuring out where and how to fit in background information or fleshing out minor characters (going to try to figure that all out tonight). The major plot work is all done, but I've been resistant to the actual writing since I haven't figured out that perfect opening yet or quite settled how I want my voice to be. I think, though, that I'm going to end up bouncing between projects a bit more as I write this one, rather than working straight through like I did with the last (although this one will still be my primary focus, and the other projects will be minor). I'm just not in a rush, since I still don't plan to seriously pursue (novel) publication for a few years, especially given the economy and my indecision about library school and other things I want to do in my life first.

Obligatory "go vote!" post. According to slave_to_anime, you might get free food!

I want to make cookies.
