wow was the google earth scavenger hunt entertaining to watch today. at best, im on a lazy person on pacific time so the map went up as i was getting out of bed.
TR gets full marks on original ways to run a "contest", so fucking awesome. it was a fabulous idea because most fans are more than happy to put in some effort to get to a show (maybe? the radio contest winners are apparently getting a movie screening so ill just assume its an event). i was chatting with someone earlier about how radio contest winners, in the case of randomness, are not usually the ones who really deserve to be there. more often that not its casual fan who happen to like the latest radio single or the big hit from the 90s. anyways, this was a bad ass way to give out tickets and did i feel for the people in LA who were at work and couldnt leave to drive around the city. that would kill me too..
i went to see the dark knight tonight.. basically because id heard good word of mouth on it from people who are not comic book geeks. and i liked it, but it was way too long. like an hour too long so that i was waiting for it to finish because id already been sitting there for two hours. not that it didnt keep up the pace, but it was just too much. i loved it when the location changed to hong kong and batman jumps off the IFC tower. happy nostalgia for hk right there...
heath did a fabulous job as the joker. there was only once or twice, where it really looked like him shining through the makeup. the last thing i saw him in was brokeback mountain.. but when the joker is sitting in the police cell, behind bars it was a trademark heath pose.
