If you've been missing long-form serial Doctor Who, the Loki series really does make a passable substitute. It wasn't incredibly obvious until they hit the quarry, but then I was all,

"...wait a minute - this is Doctor Who! But with Loki. What the hell? This is just Doctor Who!"

The most funny semi-subtle thing in Lower Decks's first episode was the way they use absolutely bog standard NextGen establishing shots with animation CGI that's almost realistic, and looks realistic at first glance, followed by, you know, this nonsense. It's kinda perfect and I love it.
