Hot water, a towel, and tea--Lenalee set these things down on a table that also showcased cotton and antiseptic in dark containers. Scissors scooted closer to the bandage rolls, she turns her eyes over to the boy sleeping in her room--or rather, their room, once upon a time. Not that she remembered.
He was sleeping so soundly (she thought), and for that she was glad. So many injuries... and he had fainted from the exhaustion--from the pain. The girl cringed at the thought. She wouldn't mind her own pain, but the hurt of others--it affected her to the point of tears.
Quietly, she lifted a small wooden chair closer to his bedside and sat to watch the rise and fall of his chest. He's alive and breathing, she whispered in her mind. He's alive and in front of me. Just within arm's reach--and reach she did, thin fingers laying lightly over his wrist.
Just a moment like this. And then, she could sleep.
