Yep; bear body, kitty head, paws, and tail. :3 I have some orange patterned velvety stuff for the first one; i'll have to start hunting around for more appropriate fabric to make more. Needs moar upholstery velvet scraps!

And it does seem rather over the top, but he did say he was throwing us into the deep end. o.o The first project is a life-size skull, so it's really not that much better. I think his idea is to winnow out the not-sure-if-serious students ASAP, of which a fine job has been done; i think everyone who was there for funsies and an easy A has vanished.

I did tell him, and he just sort of shrugged and said, "Sounds interesting; let's see how you do!" I've never seen portraits done by other faceblind people, either, so i can't blame him for being curious about how it turns out; it's just intensely difficult, and i have no idea if mine -really- resembles the model or not.

(we do have a set model: a plaster cast of - a self-portrait he did. :x Cheaper than a live model, i guess, and he definitely will know where the mistakes are.)

The kitty-bear sounds utterly unbearably (ahem) cute :D

(I am kind of a softie for all things kitty-related, in case it wasn't GLARINGLY OBVIOUS. Can't wait to see the pictures!)

The class sounds really awesome, if challenging -- I look forward to hearing how it all turns out! (And fingers crossed that someone was there to unlock the cabinet, yeeps!)
