Couldn't be bothered to take notes this time, like I usually do with this show. That just seemed like way too much effort and I am a lazy bastard today.
5x14 "In Purgatory's Shadow" & 5x15 "By Inferno's Light"
Awesome 2-parter of twisty intrigue and plot development!
YAY GARAK EPISODE. I was already spoiled for Tain being Garak's father, so that didn't surprise me. However, I was not expecting surprise Changeling Bashir! Well played, Show. Of course, that means that Fake Bashir has been hanging out with Garak & O'Brien for a month. WHERE IS THE FIC.
Garak has claustrophobia? WHERE IS THE FIC.
I enjoy Worf & Garak together. They amuse me so.
The Cardassians joined the Dominion! OH SNAP. UH OH. Dammit, Dukat. Now that you're The Enemy, I will probably get less of your strange flirting with Kira & Sisko.
The Klingons *AND* the Romulans joined forces with the Federation?? That's crazy talk. Awesome crazy talk. (I love this show.)
I love seeing Kira commanding a ship with Dax at the helm. I also like that she almost always sits with her legs widely apart. I know that sounds really weird, but you usually only see men sitting like that on television.
I still 'ship Garak/Bashir.
5x16 "Doctor Bashir, I Presume?"
Unfortunately, I was also spoiled for Bashir being genetically modified as a child. But it was interesting seeing the reveal play out with his parents. One thing I love about Star Trek is that it remembers its own history. They mentioned Khan (Khaaaaaan!) and the Eugenics Wars in passing, and that past is a logical in-universe reason for why genetic-enhancements would be illegal.
Bashir has been letting O'Brien win at darts all this time. I find that both amusing and adorable. I also enjoyed the fact that O'Brien demanded his interview be confidential because he was saying nice things about Julian.
I never watched Voyager. I suspect I would have gotten more out of this episode if I had, because of Zimmerman and his Emergency Medical Hologram image. (These 2 shows were on at the same time, weren't they? Or did Voyager come after this? I should probably look that up, but, again, I am a lazy bastard today.)
(As always, please do not spoil me for this show.)
