The "were so great" attitude sort of ruined BSG for me. It's one of the big reasons I generally avoid "behind the scenes" stuff - I get all invested in the concept of these shows as cohesive works of art made by people who all like each other and love what they are doing, and watching the SG-1 extras just reinforced that. Normally, I refuse to watch anything labled "special features", but M insisted, and it just seemed like too much trouble to leave the room.
And BSG is a very good show, and I do think it's doing very good things for Sci-Fi and television in general. It just didn't work for me. And I don't think it's as good as it thinks it is - it's a problem I had with the latter seasons of West Wing, ALL of Studio 60, and most of the big "important" dramas. As soon as the show starts telling me it thinks it is great, there's very little chance its going to live up to that.
