Two interesting news stories this morning:

'Dollhouse' Had to Modify Pilot and Alter Characters"Yes, we've had to make adjustments," Whedon wrote. "Yes, it's been hard and I've been depressing to be around for awhile. Basically, the Network and I had different ideas about what the tone of the show would be. [...] Their desires were not surprising: up the stakes, make the episodes more stand-alone, stop talking about relationships and cut to the chase. Oh, and add a chase. That you can cut to."
UH OH. This sounds familiar...
Why Science Fiction Still Hates ItselfTo get your spaceships and freaky science into the mainstream, you have to hate yourself just enough to shove your inner dork into a gym locker and keep her there. [...] If you want to make pop science fiction, you'd better call it something else.
WORD. I am so sick of SciFi being looked down on as lesser or somehow not legitimate.
Indie Films Hit the WebOffering art online rarely earns a creator much up front, but it boosts the odds of broad exposure.
Doctor Who Director Promises His Superhero Show Won't Be "Heroes"each episode will follow the story of a single individual from beginning to end. And honestly, after the many and meandering plotlines of this season's Heroes, a superhero anthology sounds like a breath of fresh air. And if Ahearne can bring the same sort of sensibilities to superheroes that he brought to vampires in the Ultraviolet miniseries, we could be in for something special.
Sounds good! I really liked Ultraviolet (the UK series with Jack Davenport, not the movie with Milla Jovovich). Actually, wasn't this what Heroes was originally going to be after s1, and then they changed their minds?
