How many police cars does it take to shut down a party?

Apparently about 25, plus a helicopter with a searchlight. About an hour ago I heard a police helicopter circling overhead - something that occurs a few times a week - and a voice over the PA system saying "he's on the roof." From what I gathered from some bystanders, the cops were there to shut down a party. Apparently there had been a fight a few hours earlier, but that was not the issue here. In any case, the police had blocked off the street on both sides, and told us to keep moving, even though we were a couple hundred yards away. I'd like to think that there was more to the story, as it would be a huge waste of police resources allocated just to shut down a lousy party - perhaps it had something to do with the guy on the roof, who honestly did not seem very dangerous. The police, though present in great numbers, seemed remarkably calm.

As I walked back to my apartment, I heard two neighbors screaming at each other. There are some bad vibes in this neighborhood. Normally I would be bothered by these two events, but this time I just smiled at the realization that I will soon be headed for greener pastures.
