I am doing the next best thing to watching the oscars... pulling off the hair of my eyelids. If ever there were a show devoted to the downfall of America it would be that one. Two faced actors and actresses claim to be on the forefront of helping the poor of the world, yet still walk the redcarpet in dress that smacks of economic inequality. ( Read more... )

Though, I don't think that the majorty of Americans, working class or otherwise, have morals any different than the hollywood crowd. The only difference is money, fame, and influence. Most people who get that would act the same way, unfortunately.

I completely agree. I'm personally boycotting the Oscars by not watching. It's not much, but at least it's one less view they'll have. I just think it's such a political crock of bull----. Although I do like movies, and have respect for some celebrities, I generally think the media has WAY too much power in our society. I'm so sick of overpaid celebrities getting so much exposure everywhere and I wish there was more I could do to put an end to it. Sadly, so many people in our society support this trash that it's not going anywhere. Grrr...

And as to Rob's comment, I try to expect more from people in general, but you very well may be right. It's sad.
