The Mummy's Hand starring softbluebuddy

Feb 26, 2008 17:22

I feel like I am living in a horror movie. Maybe the one called the Mummy’s hand or something.  Or some movie where it is the hand that is doing the thing, not the person.

For the last two or three months I have had increasing numbness in my arms and hands. It is weird because I had neck surgery last August and the pain that I was experiencing is ( Read more... )

((hugs))

I hope you get in to see the doctor soon and they figure out what's causing it and how to treat it!

Thank you. Me too. I think I am just worried I'll need more surgery and it has taken me 6 months to kind of recover from the first one. The thought of having to go through that again is scary and with the sensations I'm feeling it is hard to put it to the back of my mind. Sorry to have unloaded yesterday. Really not like me.

Hugs were most welcome.

did your doctor discuss this with you as a possibility? Sometimes things come and go at their own leisure within our bodies. I hope everything turns out all right and that you keep us updated. If I could give you Karl for some pleasant distraction at night I would ;)

He said I could have different sensations but at my visit in November it seemed like I should continue to improve. I wasn't expecting any setback. We were so happy about the pain being gone we didn't talk about more nerve problems because at that point I wasn't having any.

Thanks for the offer of sending Karl if you could. That would provide a distraction.

I had a numbness in my leg, the middle of last year. It turned out to be the slight curve in my spine causing me the problem. I had Physio for it and he gave me some exercises to do. Also I took up Pilates. things seemed to improve, then these last few weeks with all the building work going on I haven't been able to do pilates and I've noticed the pain and numbness returning. Just wanted to share how I cope with my ailment. Hope you get sorted soon. *hugs*

Thank you for the hugs. I'm sorry about sounding so distressed yesterday I guess it all added up and my journal was the last thing I did before I left work last night.

Do you use a particular Pilates DVD? Are you using mat Pilates or do you have a Pilates machine? I have a machine but have hesitated to use it since the surgery because I didn't want to over-do it, but maybe I should try the mat Pilates. I will definitely wait till my doctor appt though because he told me I could go back to yoga class in November and I did. I went twice and it was a big mistake. I can't do all the head turning things and I was compensating in different ways that ended up giving me muscle spasms. Funny though my balance is so good now that sometimes I just do the standing poses, especially one legged poses that don't involve the head turn.

Thanks for sharing and the hugs. I guess I needed that yesterday.

Well it does sound *and* feel serious, but hopefully it isn't. Maybe it is just normal post surgical stuff that should go away before too long.

With the 4 screws and metal plate in my neck, who the heck knows?

Thanks for responding. I guess I was at the end of my rope yesterday.

I hope it'll go away soon as well...

And don't worry about me responding, I just wanted to give you at least some support... *cuddles*
