My papa's been in town the last couple of days, and I've been hanging out with him and my aunt Kati. Yesterday we just wandered around, checking out book stores, then went to see Slumdog Millionaire, which was quite fab. Papa gave me a present from my grandma in Finland: Kalevala jewellery with bears; a necklace, a bracelet, and a ring. :D

Today was AWESOME. We went to the Museum of Natural History, where I've never been before (shame on me!). First we had a fancy little lunch (or in my case, breakfast) on some steps next to the Museum. Crackers, camembert cheese, grapes, nuts, and mini brownies for dessert. Nom. Then we went inside.
At first we stuck together, checking out an exhibition of photographs of our solar system, then I wandered off on my own and went through the place in about two hours: Swedish nature and wildlife, polar fauna (including several REALLY BIG whale skeletons), precious and pretty minerals (including some that looked really cool in UV light), random birds and bugs, the history of natural history (which had a stuffed Carl Linnaeus), paleontology (T.REX SKELETON), and, of course, the Museum shop. There were these really neat little plastic models of various critters, and I totally wanted the Amargasaurus, but it cost a soddin' fortune. Papa got me a book on human evolution, so I can stand my ground if some conservative nutter in the US tries to tell me evolution is bollocks and the first humans were Adam and Eve. :P

*sigh* Great day, this was. I'm glad I got to visit the MNH before I go to the US. Next stop, AMNH and Smithsonian MNH! :D
