Mafioso → Guild Roster
The eight factions of Soeldei represent many aspects of every city's substance. Each faction has three member levels, these being: initiate, associate, and adept. At the head of each faction is the guildmaster, and the eight guildmasters comprise the Soel Aulic which is the governmental body of Soeldei.

The Mafioso represent the underworld, the dark shapes that lurk in the alleys just out of sight. Unlike the Cabal, they have no code of restraint, and those drawn to this faction's services are generally unscrupulous. Even those who claim to live by their own personal creeds find themselves welcomed here. Just watch your back and your wallet...

→ People are sure to suspect you in the courier's death, Mafioso. But you are not a magic-using faction. Your first priority, of course, is still not to get caught or interrogated at all. If it's unavoidable, remind people as much as need be of the Congeries own implications in this, and the magical evidence on the ship that certainly points elsewhere. There's no reason you should go down for others' misdeed.

→ You didn't do this, Mafioso, but you're going to be blamed regardless. Protesting it will get you nowhere, so why not just make yourselves scarce, instead? Let Cabal take the fall for this while you yourselves can't be found. This may mean cutting down on your usual activities, but better that than time spent in jail. Lay low for awhile; you can always make up for this time later.

→ Well, well, well. We got beaten to the treasure, didn't we, ladies and gentlemen? That's right, the treasure, that little X mark on the map! So what are we still lounging around for? Get yourselves in gear and seize that treasure now. Hunt down the lucky islander who walked away with it, use your charms and perhaps a trap or two, or just march in and take it by force - whatever it takes!

→ You can perform a service no others can; no one knows the city's underside better than the members of this faction, but even the Mafioso have their standards. You are tasked with rooting out those who might be considering their own illegitimate enterprises and reporting it back to the leaders, even if they're in your own faction. Change builds character! But it this case it might be just the upset that gets you a nod of acknowledgment.

→ There’s a list being passed around, coming from the leader of the faction himself, of people he wants roughed up. Normally it would be a difficult task to track these people down and get them alone. Now would be the ideal time to cross one or two people off the list, with everyone running around hunting these treasures. And if you happen to find treasure along the way, no one needs to know you kept it.

→ The streets of Soeldei have grown more crowded lately, due to the arrival of your sea-dwelling "cousins": pirates. These thieves of the waves are making your own trade more difficult to pull off, with the citizens on higher alert than usual. Though fraught with danger, perhaps now is the time to truly show one's daring, and maybe even challenge these ship-sailing crooks with your skill.

→ Many of the buildings that were once off-limits to all living on the island are now miraculously accessible! If there was any good that came of the hurricane's destructive path, it was giving the members of Mafioso access to things that were once beyond their reach. Take advantage of this, Mafioso! Pillage and plunder! Take all that you can find, just watch out for the Legion. Getting caught would ruin this glorious opportunity.

→ The chaos that is plaguing the island isn't necessarily a bad thing for everyone. It is time for the crafty members of the Mafioso to hone their skills and take advantage of the distraction. People are at their weakest and too busy paying attention to other matters to pay mind to their material possessions. Take from anyone - peasant and noble alike - and take whatever you can get your grubby hands on.

→ While all the good people of Soeldei are distracted by the holiday preparations, there is much to be gained for the slippery fingers of the Mafioso. With slim pickings once the celebration has passed, now is the time to help yourself to the goodies flowing throughout the town. Stealth is crucial, even moreso now as the religious holiday is a source of great cheer and should you be caught, do not doubt the consequences could be dire.

→ Quick fingers, feet, and wits will get you far with the more criminal element of Soeldei. With all of the commerce going on in the city, no one will notice if their purses feel a little lighter. To show off their abilities, members are encouraged take a bit of coin off the good citizens of the city. Pockets are ripe for the picking, but if you get caught you’re on your own.

→ Wallets and purses are fullest when the citizens hoard the last of the year's earnings, making the Mafioso eye them hungrily. Petty thefts like muggings and break-ins seem inevitable, but the obvious valuables aren't always removed. It's almost as though these people were looking for something, although what could be anyone's guess. Yet it must be something of great importance, for they intend to stop at nothing to find it.
