Like most, I heard Kasey Kasem well before I ever saw him. He was an imporant voice in my head in the 70s; he was American Top 40 on Sunday morning radio just when I was discovering I had musical tastes of my own. He had a TV show that told all about those new music-video things that were popping up. And every week, he'd advise:
"Keep your feet on the ground, but keep reaching for the stars."
I took that advice and did all right.
I shall miss him.
