Original here. Yesterday, I had fugu for the first time!
We had a party at Ki-sensei's place, and it was fantastic! PLUS! Y-sensei's home cooking~ Mmm-hmm!
I've had the privilege of being able to eat quite a bit of home-cooked food since I've gotten here.
K-san made Christmas dinner the other day for me! <3 EVERYTHING, from the teriyaki chicken and pizza to the cakes after dinner, were all HAND-MADE, HOME-COOKED DELICIOUS GOODNESS. <3 Bliss, is what I call it.
And then there's last night! Ki-sensei's fugu hotpot! (First taste of fugu was that it was delicious!)
And Y-sensei's round tomato and cucumber salad, chirashi sushi, an Italian dish of seafood broiled entirely in olive oil, sweet potato and apple thing, sesame sauce beans (can't remember what it was, but it was good), potatoes and mushroom stir-fry, chicken that was seasoned by yeast (sounds strange, I know, but it tastes SO DAMNED GOOD)! AH~ I ATE SO MUCH! 8D
Having come to a place so faraway, and yet being able to eat home cooking that's not done by yours truly, is truly something that I'm really thankful for. I basically live in the country side, so there're no shops where one might find food to eat at, and because I live alone, if I want to eat, I'd have to cook it myself. I have to confess that it's actually really hard for me, because I rarely cooked when I was in Singapore. (Ok, steaming rice and egg was about the most I've ever done. Oh, and boiling water. 8D) This is a completely opposite situation from when I was in Singapore. Because I live with my parents, my mum cooks the meals for me, so there's no if-you-want-food-you-have-to-make-it-yourself situation for me. And also, because Singapore is a metropolis, you can just BUY whatever food you want. And you don't even have to travel all that far for it. Convenience <3. For the lazy me, it's a "buying is so much more convenient" mentality I've got, so.. I guess you get the point. I don't have to cook. Period. :P Yet here, I'm cooking almost every single meal.
It also teaches you to appreciate EVERY SINGLE HOME-COOKED MEAL YOU GET THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO COOK FOR YOURSELF. <3
I think my mum's going to laugh if she reads this. Comeuppance is a just description. :P
