Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010.
A decade ago, I was at a New Year's eve party at my neighbour's house, singing "bye bye ms american pie" and crying because Toronto had merged with surrounding "suburbs" to become a big megacity (with Mel Lastman as mayor). I've mostly gotten over the megacity shock, though I still say that if you live in Etobicoke or Scarborough, you don't live in Toronto. But it's not worth tearing up over anymore.
2009 by the numbers:

# of museums visited: 6 in Paris (with a slightly longer tour of the Louvre than this, 6 in London (+ 1 I've forgotten in one of these places), 2 in Toronto
# of reunions with old friends around the world: 1 in Oxford (Alex), 1 in London (Kasia), 1 in Cambridge (Stephen), 1 in Toronto (Lesley), and if you count September 2008 1 in Vienna (Axel).
