A decade ago, I was at a New Year's eve party at my neighbour's house, singing "bye bye ms american pie" and crying because Toronto had merged with surrounding "suburbs" to become a big megacity (with Mel Lastman as mayor). I've mostly gotten over the megacity shock, though I still say that if you live in Etobicoke or Scarborough, you don't live in Toronto. But it's not worth tearing up over anymore.
