Post-Field Paper Post-Wedding Crash

Apr 07, 2009 14:22

I am so tired. My field paper was a resounding success! My committee said they did not really debate whether I'd pass or not... Damn I'm good!

My post-field paper procrastination time has begun. For the next two weeks I'll watch as much ESPN as possible. Then the real work begins.

Let "The Great Prospectus Summer" Begin (mainly discussing my major questions and who would be interested in reading my piddly little book), hopefully become ABD by Fall, churn out a chapter or two by the end of the Fall semester. My goal is to apply for some jobs and fellowships in the Spring of 2010 and be D-O-N-E by the end of 2010. We shall see how all that goes... oh yea, and I have to raise lil' Ava in the meantime :) AND continue Adjunct-Teaching at BCC to bring home the symbolic Bacon until a full-time position opens up (if it ever will). BUSY BUSY BUSY.

I'd really like to languish in grad. school forever. I've really enjoyed the last four years spent reading just about every major philosophical work that interests me, but it's time to move on. Tara is having major "Biological Clock" issues and we need a bigger place to store the little pissants (Kidding!). That means actually making a living wage for once. Our hopes of obtaining that middle-class brass ring might actually come true in the foreseeable future! Or we could be growing our own food living on a commune out in the wilderness if Obama's Stimulus Package fails and Universities continue to freeze their hiring processes (which I've heard is already happening in some places). Bleck... no time to worry about that now is there?
