Has anyone ever read The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz?
In this book, Duddy is a young entrepreneur, who forsakes all decency is his pursuit to be a successful businessman. In fact, knowing how dangerous it is, he employs an epileptic to drive a truck for him, who gets into an accident and ends up permanently disabled.
..I don't think I'm doing so well.
..Oh, have a seat. What aren't you doing well with? You didn't get many demos set up?
..No, I mean, I keep twitching.
..Umm... ok, what should we do about that?
..I just took a pill a little while ago, but--
My grandmother was an epileptic. My mom always said it was a scary thing, but the worst part is being scared of something you don't understand. In fact, I think my brain is absolutely haunted.
..Great, if she goes to the hospital, that's one less rep we'll launch this weekend.
My lack of compassion scares even me, which is perhaps the part that plagues me the most. I guess I'm only really compassionate in the sense that I'm thankful it isn't me. It might sound selfish, but I'm sure most of you would agree with me; most everything is funny until it happens to you.
..What do you do with a pool full of epileptic kids?
..Throw them your laundry.
