Earlier today at convo hour (the block of an hour's time that LMU has without any classes scheduled to provide for a time to build community in the school through events), one of the service organizations was running a "Locks of Love" session. For those who don't know Locks of Love, it's a thing where girls (and guys from time to time) donate 10 inches length of their full head of hair to benefit cancer patients (who have no hair because of chemotherapy and whatnot). So many girls were out there getting their hair chopped off... it was shocking, in an absolutely good way. And I mean, most of these girls didn't even have hair that long... most of of them ended up with chin-length hair. It is just something so selfless, and so many girls just did it without a single regret or remorse. There were so many girls donating their hair that they had to split it into two lines to speed up the process. It was pretty inspiring. I'm actually growing out my hair to donate it, but I'm too self-conscious to cut it yet. I'm gonna give it another 5 inches of growth and then I'll donate the 10 inches.
My philosophy class got out early today. We never get out early. Our teacher told us class is cancelled all week the week of October 31st, because she'll be in China doing a seminar. Need I say more? I am going to my a KFC protest tomorrow with my friend Jan and a bunch of vegetarian/vegan people. KFC is the devil, so some people are gonna wear devil masks. We're not gonna be there to freak people out, we're gonna be there to inform people of the horrors that go on in KFC supplier factory farms, and hopefully create a little bustle in some form of the media. We're going to a dinner afterward at an awesome vegan restaurant. I'm excited.
