There's still kinda crappy stuff happening right now. But, I'm trying not to focus on them too hard, for my own mental health's sake. Instead, I'm trying to focus on good stuff when I can.
Yesterday was the big yearly rummage sale the big church downtown does. This year I think was slightly better than
last year (though last year we DID find that season 5 dvd set of The Simpsons, which was pretty awesome). Here's what I found:
-A very hefty stack of records (Led Zeppelin, Three-Dog Night, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Wings, Elvis, Cher, Bread, and Eric Clapton)
-A Vintage Care Bears toy carrying case (which I'll prolly be putting up on my Etsy shop...it's cute, but I dunno if I feel the need to have it in my collection)
-Some Care Bears figurines (I might keep some and sell the others...not sure yet.)
-A Grams Bear Care Bear plush (and she still has her shawl! I was amazed)
-TWO vintage Strawberry Shortcake throw pillows (they're identical, though one's in kinda rough shape...I'll prolly keep the rough one and sell the nicer one, since I don't need two.)
-A vintage white Samsonite train case that still had it's tray AND mirror intact!
-An old glass carafe with a starburst print on it (not sure if I'll sell it or keep it yet)
-An old black purse that I want to
deco to sell like the X/1999 one I did a while back.
-A neon-green plastic bangle bracelet
-A set of
3 vintage Tupperware glasses with a strawberry pattern
-Some funky tea-towels and oven mitts that have a really colorful mushroom pattern all over em (I think they might be from the 70s, not sure)
-a carry-on sized suitcase that's pink & white "camo" pattern
-and a super cute strawberry serving tray...that I bought and when the woman handed it back to me so I could put it in a bag, I promptly dropped it and broke it to smithereens. >__< Way to go, butterfingers. (Oh, well...at least I was only out a few cents. But still.)
We were gonna do their usual "come back at the end of the day and fill up a trashbag for a set price" sale, but they raised the price from $5 a trashbag to $10! WTF. So instead, we poked around for anything that'd be worth grabbing still, and if it didn't come up to over $10, we were just gonna buy them on their own. Which is what we ended up doing, lol. I was bummed there were no good VHS tapes, though Zack managed to find a really fun old tape on how to get high scores at Nintendo games! XD But other than that, not much. I would've picked up a few DVDs, but they rose the prices of those to $3 a disc, so I had to pass. At least their records where cheap as hell.
At least the stuff we did find was really cheap. And since a good chunk of that is stuff I intend to clean up and sell, I'm hoping to get most of my money back (in time, at least...lol). But now my arms are positively KILLING me today (mostly from carrying around those records. Who knew a pile of records could get so heavy? lol.)
Everyone having a good weekend so far?
