Tuesday morning, after leaving work: Got a settlement cheque from ICBC. Roughly $17,000. Also, a bottle of wine from my lawyer and a pen that lights up. Very space-age. Put $13,000 into a GIC. Wandered around the mall where my bank is, babbling on the phone to
palmer_kun about everything I saw, and gee, I can AFFORD all of it now, isn't that cool? Went home to bed.
Tuesday evening, following sleep: went up to visit with
palmer_kun, got kisses, and shockingly good homemade soup involving bacon, and more kisses. Somewhere in there, discovered the sheer entertainment of fluffy hair and head-scritchings. Went home to bed. Alone. Hush.
Wednesday: Took VS on a shopping spree, and to lunch, a movie, and dinner. (
Martian Child is a reasonably good movie. Not TOO many sappy conventions, and Joan Cusack's always good playing against her brother.) Wandered around Strawberry Hill and bought catnip things for the cats, books, and armloads of clothes for Lee-Lee. Baby is going to be dressed to the freaking nines. Woo! In the end, I probably spent $1100. I also have loads of new clothes, though. Came home, watched Gord lose his fuzzy little mind all over the floor with catnip. Arlo kept trying to eat the packaging on some glittery toys, so we gave him a couple of those, and he got down and haywire as well.
Today, Thursday: Am feeling like twice-pounded shit. Uh-oh. Suspect this has something to do with being overtired and out in the rain yesterday, rather than somewhere warm and dry with a massage-fiend man. Still, I have to find an outlet of H&R Block, and get my taxes for the past 4 years figured out and submitted. And then submit paperwork to Fair Pharmacare so they'll get off my back about paying premiums I don't actually owe. And then come home and die for a few more hours, I think, because...
Friday: I'm to go with VS to ICBC (She was hit by a car less than a week ago. Go figure.) as moral support, and if the big ol' corporation doesn't see fit to propose a decent settlement for HER, we're going up to my lawyer's local office and trying to hire him on.
