I haven’t knit or spun a lick this week. The previously mentioned green and brown fiber sat on my niddy noddy all week because World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade was finally released and we have been playing all week.
But today, I took
MamaE’s Dyeing Class. And now I am thoroughly tired, but I have an idea of how to die things if I want to make something for myself, and I have a ton of beautiful yarn.
Before leaving, I threw the brown and green into the sink. Seen here, it’s already turning the water green.
And here is everything I dyed today. Click
here for the big photo.
And here’s a close up of the koolaid dyed stuff, which I am so very pleased with. Sorry for the bluriness but you can see the colors just fine.
And here’s the fiber I dyed and can’t wait to spin, I bet it’ll be lovely.
And here’s the yarn I dyed for
Sahara. I am pleased with the “kettle/pot dyeing” technique look, with it’s darks and lights and I think it will make some nice interest in the sweater. We can’t all use Tilli Tomas after all. And honestly, I don’t much want to.
And here’s the green and brown I dug out of the sink after hanging up all my pretty stuff and only barely remembered it. I didn’t even hang it properly, I just said screw it, and stuck it on our towel rack.
I did try to move out of my color comfort zones for much of the dyeing process today. And I am really glad that I did. Now I am really tired, and my hands are blue, and I am going to bed.
Phew! It was a long day but it was a productive one and I learned a lot. A LOT.
