As I'm watching the debate tonight, I'm just thinking about how crazy things have gotten in this world. People put money above EVERYTHING...people will do anything for money. People will lie, steal, kill, and do so much more. Everything seems to be about money. People aren't viewing things correctly...that's the problem. People define their value by how much money they have. If someone has a lot of money, or wears designer clothes, or drives a certain kind of car, or if they have a certain kind of degree or job, then they're "better". This is SOOO not true because money or anything from this world can't determine the value of someone who is created by God. And everyone is created by God. So to define yourself by what you have...to base your happiness and worth by what you do or who likes you, is ridiculous!
Last night while praying, I was just telling God how backwards things have gotten. We're supposed to put God first, so that everything will fall in order. When we put God first (by putting His values first, by viewing ourselves and the world through His eyes), we are viewing things correctly. We need to conform to God's way of doing things and NOT the world's because the world has a way of distorting the truth. Hey, that's what the enemy does...he inverts what God wants and says to get us out of line with God. He wants you to think that you're not worth as much as you are so that you'll settle for less. He wants you to think that things of this world are the best things you'll ever see, so you'll want to make them idols and worship them (like money/"status"). Well, I'm not believing the hype! I am now, more than ever, trying to see things the way God sees them because God is right. His Word is truth. It doesn't matter if other people don't agree...that doesn't mean it's not true and His Word doesn't need anyone to agree with it to make it truth.
God wants me to see myself as loved, forever loved, and valuable. He wants me to know that my worth comes from Him...not from what my job is, who likes me or approves of me, what type of clothing I wear, how much money I have, even what I do. The mere fact that God Almighty, creator of the heavens and earth, created me...is enough! That's enough for me to love myself. It's enough for me to know that I'm okay the way I am and I'm accepted and approved! That's enough for me to be able to stand tall and know that God's love will prevail and that He will take care of me. His love is the reason why He's given me the victory through His son, Jesus Christ. His love is the reason why He cares and wills to give me the desires of my heart. His love is the reason why He forgives me and picks me back up when I fall. It's His love that grounds me and keeps me strong. His love does it all. God is love! So, why doesn't the world see things that way and not base value/worth/EVERYTHING on material things when God is offering so much more?
