Although I was born in Southern California, we moved to Winnetka, Illinois (north of Chicago) when I was 18 months old. We moved to San Francisco when I was 11 years old, but I think the damage was done by then. The director of my acting school was always exhorting me to "get rid of that Midwestern "A"!".
