87. Kisscut by Karin Slaughter. Here's part of what works about these books, I'm realizing--and I wish, now, that I hadn't stumbled into the series in the middle--is that Slaughter is really damned good at writing about the consequences of trauma. Lena Adams is angry and messed up before the events of Blindsighted, yes, but here we see her beginning to spiral, and from what little I recall of A Faint Cold Fear it only gets worse. I don't know if it's because of this or in spite of it that I find Lena a more relatable character than Sara Linton, who is, I think, a not very nice person who is convinced that she is a nice person. But I digress. The squirm factor on this one is high; there's less on-screen violence, but the mystery involves child abuse, so be warned.
