As someone who enjoys eating a lot of honey, I am saddened and concerned by the recent
mass die-offs of honeybees. I'm also concerd that disruptions indicating ecosystem health tend to show up in animals first (see mutations of frogs in
A Plague of Frogs by William Souder.)
But even more vexing is that I cannot place a literary reference that swarms into my head every time I see the headlines about bees: There is a story about a child who cries for bees who are frozen and die in the cold winter air. I tried googling it, but I can't figure out if this is a figment of my imagination or some random short story I read during high school.
More literate llama-blog readers, please lend your assistance in helping me track this bit of minutiae!
