I finally started watching the IY episodes(up to ep 15 now) and I have a new theory about Yuri being 'boring': that she's overexposed. On the PowerFM radio they expressed worry that people would start going "well of course they do that, it's SNSD", and I think this is what has happened to Yuri. In this case, the fact that she's good at everything and has such a wide range is hurting her. The IY PD also noted that Yuri couldn't come up with a character, and I think this is because she has the ability to become any character so she couldn't easily choose just one. Being not a Big member meant that she was constantly doing everything she could to show her appeal, but that also meant that she's shown us everything she's got. The Big members, on the other hand, largely have stuck with the images they started with because that's all they've needed to be popular, so that they can slowly reveal new sides to us at their own leisure. (Basically what grey said.) On IY at least, Sunny hides her sides very carefully and only reveals them when someone else draws it out of her. Not only does this make her a better prospect to link up with other people it also makes her more interesting since we never know what she'll do next.
Yeah, I was surprised too at how Sooyoung got a huge boost from Soori alone. And yeah, whenever people do a "everyone in SNSD gets paired up" fic, usually Hyo's the only straight one getting with Eunhyuk. XD People seem to prefer Soosun over Hyoyoung or Hyosun when it comes to their leftover pairing of the underdogs. But the thought braving the Super Generation thread to count the Hyo-pairing posts makes me all eeeerrrghhh. :P
Fany definitely has the most devotion vs. Taeyoonsic's popularity, what with her Lotte auction hoodie bringing in over twice as much $$ than Yoona's.
