Grey loves tables, I love-hate Excel right now

Fuck no, after doing all of the excel work to make this I ain't wrassling with html to reconstruct the table here. The very thought of it makes me shudder horribly.

So...many...numbers....
Now I'll have nightmares about this somehow gaining enough notoriety to come to SNSD's attention and Jeti seeing my lovely Whore Ranking joke. :P

Ranking points is a summary of how much each person ranks in each category, which saves you the time of looking at all of the pie charts just to see who had the highest numbers. It also compiles how many times, say Taeyeon, had the absolute highest number, thus giving an approximation for her popularity relative to the other members, accounting for both $$$ value and general popularity.

Yeah, that's why I had a separate pie chart for the auction total: grey noted that in the Chocolate Love auctions she came in second place for both auctions separately but ended up raking in the most cash overall.
The interesting thing about the auctions are that they are still winner-takes-all, so this is a better indication of who has the absolute richest fans. A good measure of who has a bigger general market would be statistics on those SNSD trading cards or the totals for each member's birthday charity drives.(Pretty please anyone if you have the time could you dig those numbers on SSF's drives for me?) But it still does show who has the greatest $$$-intake value, which is the more important to the company than general popularity, even if the two are mostly linked.

Another aspect is that popularity and devotion are different things. Sunny and Sooyoung have had their turns appearing everywhere and being promoted like crazy, and while wherever they go everyone is praising them and saying their popularity is growing it obviously hasn't translated into fans posting like crazy about them on the boards or forking over the cash for their stuff. One explanation is that the kinds of fans they attract aren't the type to mindlessly spam post/vote, preferring to put some though into their online contributions, as well as being the people who have more pride than to lap up any wallet-rape the company doles out for them.
To a lesser extent, the same applies to Yuri. We've speculated before that she suffers from "second-place syndrome", where people love her but she's not their absolute favorite so like with Tiffany and the auctions, she probably has a lot of popularity but it doesn't translate to devotion. But she easily took the top dog spot in IY because the Big 4 who usually outrank her weren't present. Especially in the earlier episodes she was getting the Yoona treatment from everyone, getting picked as the ideal or favorite again and again.

But yeah, it is kind of depressing that Tiffany alone brought in just a little bit less money from the auctions than the bottom five put together
