Hoooome for the holidays! HUZZAH. No more classes for another five weeks! DOUBLE HUZZAH. New SGA! HU-- well. Um. Thoughts!
First and foremost -- RODNEY WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU SUCH A DICK TO ZELENKA. OMG. I... no. That was out of character and ridiculous. "A light coma"? PFFFFT I flat out refuse to believe that Rodney would react to an attack on his geek squad so cavalierly and, frankly, it's obnoxious that they tried to play that for laughs. Just... what the hell. *IS NOT PLEASED*
That said, the teeny bit of Beckett/Zelenka at the end almost made it worth it. Man. Old school Carson/Radek/Rodney IS SO WHERE IT'S AT. (Yes, I am fully capable of getting nostalgic about a show I started watching less than eight months ago.)
Aside from that... um. I didn't mind this episode plot-wise as much as I thought I would; although, eesh, did they have to crib the ENTIRE premise from SG-1? Granted, not an episode I've seen so I can't be all, "Oh, snooze, already watched this..." but the fact that they phrase it in that way... it comes off pretty much the same. But Neeva was actually interesting and I did like the dynamic with her accomplices. I mean... ouch. But. Kind of cool for a one-shot guest character arc.
Other things of note:
-I think it's perhaps significant to contrast this with "The Shrine," ha, in that Keller's diagnosis of Rodney is delayed when he starts flirting with her: "Oh, he likes me; that's so sweet!" -- as opposed to here, when Rodney immediately connects her romantic overtures with an alien presence: "Oh, she wants to sleep with me; ZOMG WHAT IS GOING ON *FLAAAAAIL*". Hmmmm.
-Shallow! But! Running through forests is a look for Ronon. Mmmmhm.
-The town magistrate! I found someone new to add to my epic list of Stargate/Psych crossover actors!
-Wee pining angsty John. I'm sorry, but his jilted grouchiness is so canon. The whole, "Are Dr. Keller and he really...?" "Hard to believe, huh?" exchange was just... oh. Poor John. Don't be sad. :( :( Boys are mean.
-Seriously, though, Sheppard. BE EXCITED. "VEGAS" TIME IS FINALLY HERE OMG OMG OMG OOOOOMMMMMMGGGGGG. Granted we now have to wait until the new year (daaaaammit! Patience is not one of my virtues!) BUT JEEEEE-JUMPIN'-HOSHAPHAT I AM SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO EXCITED FOR THIS EPISODE. I MIGHT POSSIBLY EXPLODE FROM GLEE BASED ON THE PREVIEW ALONE. EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
