Grrrrrrr

Well last night was possibly one of the worst nights of my life. I went to pick up Andy from work at 11pm, which is in downtown St. Paul. As we started driving towards home, the battery died completely, in the middle of one of the worst neighborhoods in the city.

So there we are, bad area, no cell phone or pay phones in sight, not even a gas station for about 12 blocks, since it was residential. My parents just moved back in town and had gotten new phone numbers, and I somehow lost the paper with their numbers on it.

We managed to get the car started and barely made it to the nearest gas station. Then for about 2 hours we tried everything we could think of to get the car fixed. No go. We had gotten a new alternator put in last November, and my guess was that was what the problem was.

So luckily, my brother's phone number was at information and he drove down at 2:30 in the morning to help us. There happened to be a Midas across the street from the gas station and we had to push the car across a busy intersection to it. All of this with my two year old in the car, on a sticky, mosquito swarming, hot night, in a neighborhood I wouldn't feel comfortable walking around in broad daylight. Thank goodness Aidan slept through most of it in the back seat.

So we dropped off the key in the early-bird drop box and my brother drove us home. We had to both call off of work today too! So the Midas people looked at it, and sure enough it was the alternator. So then we had to pay them $35 to look at it, and $100 to tow it to the original place we had in under warranty.

And the part was alternator WAS covered. But not the labor, OR the new freaking battery!! So all in all we spent about $400 and lost a full day's salary on the rotten piece of crap car that is our only means of transportation. :(

I've definitely had better days, and to top it off I'm PMSing. Grrrrrrrr...
