Easter in a Bunny Suit / Financial Milestone / New Buster Bunny Cel!

May 03, 2011 02:23

Easter morning, while I was at work pushing wafers around the fab and fixing IT problems, it dawned on me that I was in what some people call a bunny suit. The fab suits we wear from head to toe is kind of a nylon fabric of some kind and mostly traps particles in the air and on our clothes from getting onto the product. It was kind of funny to go around the fab and remind people to cross "Wear a Bunny Suit on Easter" off their bucket lists. Hop hop hop!

Speaking of work, my conversion from temp to real employee is officially one week away. I've begun getting information and I even have a meeting setup next week to discuss benefits and whatnot. It's good to be told by everyone that being converted in only six months is insanely rare. I should have no trouble keeping this job as long as I want, and that puts me at ease. Since I don't have a whole lot of expenses, you could say nearly every dime I've made over the last few months (After taxes) has been piling up in my bank account. As of this week, I've reached the milestone of having enough saved up to pay off my entire student loan debt in one transaction if I wanted to. Sure, it would mean reducing my entire balance to nearly nothing, but the psychological impact of being able to do that is powerful. After only six months at one job, I've got enough money to completely pay off the college I went to for four years. I don't actually plan on doing that right now, but it does give me a great sense of success and self value. That's the only debt in my life that I have and to have the power to end it right now without credit cards or bankruptcy or borrowing from anyone means a whole lot.

I hope that last paragraph didn't sound like total gloat. I wouldn't have been able to accomplish this without living rent-free at home with my family which is a fact I'm not horribly proud of. But it's all gonna change very soon. I'm hoping to be either moved out or have a place to live in mind by the end of this month. I can't wait. I am being slowly converted to a real employee right now, so until that's all calm and over I'm playing things slow and easy. Baby steps.

Outside of my professional life and all that jibber-jabber, I do have hobbies. For a couple months now, I've been meaning to frame this new Buster Bunny animation cel I snagged off eBay. I finally got around to buying the frame and all the mat board I needed last week before assembling it just now. Check out the results! Click for a larger version!

Man, I love framing crap. I cut all that mat board myself and the whole thing -- Which is 17 inches across by 13 inches tall -- just looks beautiful. You can't quite see it in the photo, but the white mat below the clear animation cel isn't colored paper but a tightly woven fabric mat. The guy I bought it from didn't have the original background or a certificate of authenticity nor does the cel have a Warner Brothers animation stamp, so it's probably a very well done fake or an animation test or even a leaked production cel. Either way, it's still a one-of-a-kind painted-by-a-real-animation-artist-who-worked-on-the-show piece of art that'll go on the wall along side the other two Tiny Toon Adventures animation cels I've collected. MORE! I NEED MORE!!
