No Garage Sale (Yet) / New TV / Leann Meets My Parents

Once again, my family and I scrubbed plans for a second weekend garage sale for this last weekend. With no one totally ready because of Blu's sudden illness, we've pushed it back now to not this coming weekend but the weekend of September 11th. Hopefully that's not too late in the summer season for a garage sale, but it'll really be one of our last opportunities since my birthday would be the next weekend and after that it'll officially be Fall and who knows how quickly the weather will turn from our current sunny warmth to dreary rainy cold.

Since this whole madness with the garage sales began back in July, I've been looking around my room for things to sell for the upcoming sale. I noticed my rather bulky 20-inch CRT television which I've had since my senior year at college. The TV has always been somewhat of a pain to move and it's one of those analog standard definition sets. The wheels in my head began turning and I wondered what it would be like to have a newer LCD TV that I could mount flat on the wall. Wow, the space a flat TV would free up would be great. I'd recently sold something on Amazon for about $200, so I figured that would be my seed money for a modest LCD HDTV. The hunt began, but I quickly realized that $200 for a high definition television is a tough price to find. Sure, they existed, but they were 19-inch pieces of crap. I expanded my search to the Internet and waited for just the right deal to come along...

Then suddenly it appeared last week on Craigslist. There was a man in Beaverton who was selling his Sanyo 26" widescreen LCD HDTV with a wall mount for $200 even. The set had a remote, built-in digital tuner, built-in speakers and HDMI, which were all requirements I was looking for. The wall mount alone was priced at $110 at places like Best Buy. I quickly wrote the guy and claimed the set. Within 24 hours I had collected it and paid in cash. The guy, who seemed a few years older than me and living alone in an apartment, claimed that he bought the thing a year ago and just never used it. He'd paid $400 plus whatever the mount cost him. I was getting a crazy too-good-to-be-true deal at $200 for all of it. I've been enjoying the hell out of the set now for almost a week and I have to say, it's good to finally be enjoying high definition television. The wall mount is a trip, too, as I can pull the set away from the wall nearly two feet and tilt it any which way. Now, I just need to get rid of my old 20-inch CRT. Garage sale fodder for sure! Here's a couple quick photos of the TV mounted on the wall. Check out just how far away from the wall this puppy can get! And all the cables hide inside the metal arms of the mount so it's all just exactly what I was looking for.

Last night, Leann came over here for the first time ever. We've been dating now for about a month and a half and not once in all of our meetings has she been in this house. She finally got to meet my folks and we all had a chicken dinner together before her and I sat around my room and watched TV and played video games. It was a somewhat awkward evening as everyone tried to get used to each other, but from what I'm hearing this morning, the evening was a success and everyone seemed to have a great time. It was really wild to see Leann on my bed; to know she was comfortable and enjoying herself while simultaneously being sexy and giving me a flirty glance. Hot girl on my bed! Woo! So yea, all in all, everyone was all smiles about last night. Whew!
