Earlier in the week was my mother's birthday. For the first time in eons, my brother and I actually succeeded in getting her a couple gifts she might actually enjoy and use. She's probably the hardest person I know to shop for because she's very humble and self-sufficient. Kind of like me. Very hard to shop for. But this year, she actually asked us all for something and we made it happen. She wanted to be able to watch her
Law and Order DVDs in her office so we setup an old-school
Xbox game console we had lyin' around to act as a DVD player. It works like our media PCs by looking over the network to play files on our server. Once again, it looks like we've made yet another media PC! We also snagged
Amadeus on
Blu-Ray for her for only $15, which is an insanely low price for so new a Blu-Ray. Yay for
Amazon deals!
Supernanny is effective birth control. Man, just the first ten minutes of any episode of this show is enough to make people swear off breeding.
In my last entry, I mentioned that Jaci scored a phone interview for a job with the state of South Dakota. It turns out that the interview went well even though she thought she bombed it. It went so well, in fact, that they nearly immediately called her back for a second, in-person interview. Jaci realized at that point that they job they were offering wasn't as good as it would have to be to get her to move to South Dakota. They were looking for someone to start immediately as well as for less than she's making now along with other reasons. She turned them down. As luck would have it, a second job she applied for in South Dakota also called her for an interview. Even in this economy, she apparently will have no trouble finding work! Every job she's applied to lately has resulted in her having to turn them down!
So yea, I'm obviously relieved that she's not taking off for South Dakota anytime soon. She's suggested since her and I have nothing holding us down in our lives, that we should run off together and start a new life somewhere while furthering our college degrees. Suggestions have been Florida, California or Hawaii! Wow, that would be quite an adventure.
