I hope you get some better pictures up soon - I thought that they were Hershey Kisses in pastel colors. (Yeah, I know I couldn't figure out why there would be pastel-colored Hershey kisses in the inauguration either!)

Yea, they almost look like those sugar mints. But you have to imagine a southern belle dress with lots of wavy frills and a huge hat. Plus, it was below freezing on the parade route, so they're bundled up like nobody's business.

Wow! That is so amazing! You must be so proud of your cousin! I know I am! This will be a memory that will stay with her and your family's. And yes, I get that sense of newness and awe when Obama is mentioned. He's like the leaders of the past you mentioned who were almost...legendary. It was a really beautiful day. I was very touched by the entire inauguration.

It's also just exciting to know that we finally have someone as president who not only seems to genuinely care about people and our image abroad, but he also is a man of the people. I told you how the other day, he ordered a cheeseburger with fries as his first meal on Air Force One? That's an American I could hang out with and actually be comfortable talking to, you know? Not pompous or above the rest of us. It's going to be a great four (8?) years!

I agree that he genuinely cares about the people. That's the impression I get from him. Bush really didn't care, no matter what happened, it was about what *he* wanted, not what was good for the people. Yeah, I remember you telling me about the cheeseburger and fries! That's so cool. It's like you can sit back with him and just have a regular convo with him. I look forward to the next 4 years and I'm glad to see he's already changing things!

I think we've seen the worst of the recession, too. I heard something today about a big company getting ready to hire 10,000 people. Things might be looking up.
